The 20th Century Magazine Collection contains twelve magazines including: Look, The Saturday Evening Post, and The Spur ranging from 1911 to 1962. In addition there are four pages, presumably from Vogue. Cover stories include topics such as women's suffrage, Easter, World War I, color photos of the Eastern Shore and Vladimir Lenin, and fox hunting.

This 20th century postcard album contains approximately 274 individual postcards and 14 multiple postcard collections that date between 1906 and the 1960s. Many of the postcards include correspondence and significant portions are addressed to the same individual (Julia Francis of Woodhaven, Long Island, New York). The postcards depict scenes from both World Wars, buildings and scenery in America and Europe, photographs of the sender, seasonal imagery, and racist depictions of African Americans. There are also several different types of formats that the postcards are presented in, such as raised decorations, wood, silk, embroidery, and one of a woman with wool hair. There is no apparent arrangement of the postcards.
Agnes Tilghman Lürman photograph collection

The Agnes Tilghman Lürman Photograph collection documents the activities of Ms. Lürman, and includes her visits to the “Grosses” also known as the Grosscoat Farm in Talbot County, Maryland, a trip to Paris, France in 1915, Shellfield, Wye Plantation, Weems, Virginia and Wharton Manor. Photographs also document the military service of William H. Decoursey Tilghman and J. Daniel Tilghman. Also, there is a comprehensive documentation of the National Service School Women’s Section of the Navy League at Camp Chevy Chase, 1917-1918. Concurrently Pat Calloway, a photographer stationed with the American Expeditionary Forces in France, 1917-1918, documented the sites in Paris, as well as the French landscape and daily life of a soldier during World War I.
American Red Cross Hospital Photograph Album (Evreux, France)

This photograph album belonged to an American medical officer who worked in the American Red Cross Hospital in Evreux, France. There are 289 photographs of wounded American, French, British, and German soldiers. Photographs show the wards and operating rooms, hospital staff, patients, prosthetics, Fourth of July celebrations featuring Uncle Sam, basket weaving and woodworking, a funeral, scenery around the city, and other activities of the hospital in 1918. Some of the photographs were taken by Lewis Hine. Many of the photographs feature Major Ralph Roswell Fitch, who was the hospital's administrator at the time and likely the creator of this album.

The Atwood Barwick Collection consists of historical and travel materials accumulated by Atwood Barwick, a transcript of judicial records by Atwood Barwick, and a notebook by Arthur O’Donnell, dating from 1897-2010. It contains brochures, booklets, postcards and ephemera from historic sites in the United States, and booklets, catalogs, extracts, magazines offering insight into historical tourism in the United States from 1924-1984. The collection also contains magazines, newspapers, a transcript of colonial judicial records of Somerset County, Maryland, and a notebook on the First World War by a student at New York University in 1918 offering insight into nautical and United States’ history from 1696-1995.

The author starts with her ancestor from Adams County, Pennsylvania and traces it all the way until she moves to Salisbury, Maryland. The ancestry tracks the family's church involvement until her mother is born. Her mother was born, Evelyn Elizabeth Elliott, blind and married John Royston Green, another blind person. The two would raise the author and her brother through World War I, The Great Depression, and World War II.

Clifton E. Burding Letters

These letters were written from Private Clifton E. Burding to his hometown girlfriend (and future wife) Lillian Snailhan of New Bedford, Massachusetts between 1917 and 1919. Burding was with Company G, 61st Infantry and began training at Fort Devens in Ayer, Massachusetts and Camp Green in Charlotte, North Carolina before being sent to France and, later, Camp Merritt in Creskill, New Jersey. Burding wrote frequently to Lillian and provided insight into the daily routine of military camp life, including frequent drilling and marching, practice with weapons and gas masks, trench digging, medical exams and inoculations, quarantines due to measles, and his assigned details as a hospital orderly, kitchen worker, and provost guard.

The Clyde Family Letter Collection documents the lives of Leslie Clyde and Robert A. Clyde as they served in France during the First World War. The letters date from 1916 to 1919 and describe the men's experiences as they trained at Fort Monroe, Virginia and served with the 2nd Trench Mortar Battery, 2nd Division throughout France. Most of the letters were written by Leslie and Robert to their mother, Jane "Jennie" Clyde, and their father, Robert S. Clyde, as well as their younger siblings: Margaret, Alexander "Sander," Jennie, and Marion. While most of the correspondence contains details about daily life, some mention national and worldwide events such as the Spanish influenza epidemic, Daylight Savings Time in the US, prohibition, the Chicago race riot of 1919, unions and the Railroad Brotherhood, and Charlie Chaplin. Some of the letters include racist slurs and sentiments.

The Clyde Gilbert Truitt collection includes numerous photographs, documents, newspaper clippings, and handwritten information cards detailing Clyde G. Truitt’s military service in World War I. Other local men’s military careers are also included in this collection, but the main focus of the collection is on Clyde Truitt. Information surrounding Clyde’s family is present in the collection. Documents pertaining to Truitt’s family include birth certificates, wedding announcements, report cards, and other genealogical documents. A vast majority of the collection is made up of photographs. Half of the photographs detail Truitt’s military experience, while the other half depict the Truitt family, the Truitt family home, and Clyde’s career with the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company.
